Brian Kilcommons is an internationally renowned dog behavior counselor and trainer. For over three decades his mission has been to improve the relationship people have with their dogs. His experience in media, veterinary medicine, publishing, shelter work and spokesman give him a very unique skill set.
Brian has been a reporter for WABC News, CBS Morning News and host of Pet News on the Fox Channel. In addition, he was the pet expert for Parade Magazine. Brian has been written about in Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and a host of international publications. He has been seen on Good Morning America, The Today Show, World News Tonight, and PBS.
Brian was a part-time faculty member at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine for 15 years. He was awarded the NYSVMA Dr. Steve Kritsick Award and the PVMA Dr. Wayne Mountain Memorial Media Award for his impact on animals through the media. Brian has been a spokesman for the Pet Food Institute, Pedigree, Iams as well as Purina Us and Canada.
As a spokesman he has done numerous satellite media tours, radio, TV, seminars and personal appearance throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
Brian has published 9 books with his first book, Good Owners Great Dogs now in its 16th printing. With his book My Smart Puppy, the Iams Company underwrote the production of the DVD companion.
As the president of the Walter Turken Training for Adoption Program he trained hundreds of volunteers how to socialize, train and rehabilitate dogs in shelters throughout the country.
Brian recently finished a police training video; Police & Dog Encounters Video Training Series: Tactical Strategies and Effective Tools to Keep Our Communities Safe and Humane for the Department of Justice and is currently working on a program on the recognition, prevention and management of aggression in dogs.
